It is two hooks tied as one. One hook is a straight eye, it is on the bottom, the other hook is a down eye with a kink in the hook. I usually cut one hook off and use just the eye portion, but the two hooks actually work I am told. I however prefer barbless.
There is a know or a stopper below the bottom eye in the tippet to keep it from sliding down.
That 2 hook arangement if tied with the hook up would be like a dropshot setup. Maybe thats how I could get a horizontal fly, hmm the ol’e brain is working now[;)]Thanks
Check out this hook Eagle Claw EC413. Mid Current thinks it is a killer hook.
Looks good but not for hanging below an ice rod, it would still be tipping down, I think
