Hail call to SkunkedAgain

Jeff, did you get my PM I sent to you and Pat a few days ago inviting you both to LP?

Hey Shane I didn’t see that, but looking now I have a message so I’ll check it out… Thanks for the hail… J

I got it but schedule didn’t line up! Bummer!!

Yeah, I should have tried the March timeframe this year… Things are really ramping up with farming kicking in so it’s really hard for me to get away very long this time of year… It would have been really fun… Hope Shane does well… J

Got here today and found a good beach in GHB.
Fished for a couple hours and took some good pics of my buddy.
Dewey had not been down here in over two decades and had a great first day.

Wow, everything but a striper, so was that by design? I know some don’t like to target them, I guess I’d be the weird one, I’d had to catch a few of them since I never have… Great pics and it sure looks like fun… How was launching? Hope you have a great time, and it looks like a good start… Good luck… Jeff

Looks like fun Shane. Are you guys fishing the rock piles with Ned rigs or similar? That’s a nice mixed bag. Powell this time of year is magical!

It was a short trip and home already.

Launched Tues late morning to a single lane at the Executive ramp.

Set up beach camp in Good Hope Bay.

Caught all eight of the nine game species (did not catch a single Bullhead) everywhere we went.

Walleye/Striped Bass/Largemouth Bass/Smallmouth Bass/Green Sunfish/Bluegill/Crappie/Channel Cats everywhere we fished.

Ned rigs good/drop shot 1/2 crawler very good/bottom bouncing very good.

Did not try any trolling.

Packed up camp early Friday morning (did not fish Friday) and got decon’ed in new dunk tank at Bullfrog.

Fantastic trip!

Warning: Some Walleye were harmed on this trip when I ripped their gills out for bloodless fillets to be released in to 350 degree oil and placed in tortilla shell and eaten as sun went down before falling asleep to waves gently lapping the shoreline.

The End.

Looks like a great trip! Wish I could have made it!

Hoping to fish tomorrow either walleye or kokes?

Awesome Report, we were down there at the same time, camped in Halls Creek Canyon, targeting stripers. I need to go back and bottom bounce. We were out near the main channel on the stripers. Are you bottom bouncing the shelves off the canyon walls or way up the arms? What depth were you bottom bouncing in?

I saw your report on WW.

Both usually, but this trip I was so sick of being in the sun so much I aimed for whatever shady spot I could find.

Biggest Eye’ was behind a boulder in 4’ fow.

I try to stay between the shore and no deeper than 15’, which is no easy feat as you know at Powell.

Shore was on my side of boat and giant rock had shade on side so as I passed rock I stuck 7’6" pole as far out as I could to get as close to rock as possible and at same time lifting pole tip in air.

Big Eye came out and grabbed it.

If I make a pass and we both get hit by Gills I turn around and do it again. If we both get hit again in same spot I SpotLock and we grab poles with micro tungsten ice jigs, tipped with 1/4" crawler I cut up and keep rolled up in a wet towel.

Funny thing this year, I found a BG hotspot and we beat them up pretty good, but during beating I caught Channels on five consecutive drops.

Also usually catch a few Striper, a few Crappie, a single Walleye or two, and of course a Smallie or two in the feeding frenzy. All on the micro tungsten. I don’t ever remember catching a LM this way though.

Good times.

Thanks for the update on the trip Shane, that sounds like a great trip… Wish I could have made it as well… Congrats on a good one… Later Jeff
