I’m waiting for my favorite cat lake in Wyoming to warm up. Shouldn’t be too long. I have been dormant on these boards for a few months now but since summer is approaching fast I’ll be fishing Utah waters here fairly soon.
I know Wildcat94 he was friends with my brother in H.S. and I played football with his little brother. We’ll have to meet up and dunk some tubes at the Knolls.

Yeah no kidding - I remember the first time Wes hit me I fumbled the ball 10 feet in the air. Good times.
I had the best day of my life fishing @ the knolls last year. Was middle of July. I showed up half an hour before dark and float tubed all night. Stayed on the water until 3:00 PM the next day. Almost a full day in the tube. The night bite wasn’t real great. Once the sun came up I started to score a few more here and there. At about noon though I was catching a cat every five mins. I probably caught two or three dozen cats over 5lbs. Was the fastest action I’ve had for catfish and quite a memorable trip. I will definitely be hoping for a repeat this summer.
Definitely a great place for tubers. Not so good for night fishing if you are a bank tangler. Those big spiders will string you up and carry you off.
A super kitty hangout for sure. I always get some of my best trips of the year in that area.

I kept looking at your pictures to see if I could tell how you were able to control the motor that was on a tube separate from your tube–no luck. I guess I will just have to see your new creation in person.
I enjoyed the fishing report and pictures (as usual). There were some large catfish caught! My mouth watered when I saw them. They are so much fun to catch. I remember how frightened I was when I caught my first large catfish from a float tube!
I was fishing Deer Creek the day you were at the Knolls. I have a friend whose health is so poor that he can’t get in and out of a boat very well. I have been trying to help him get his boat ready to sell. We were testing his motors Monday so we took some fishing rods with us while we were “fine tuning” the motors. I caught some beautiful rainbow trout–some of the largest fish I have caught there in a long time.
It is good to see Delores catching those kitties she catches so well.
I am sure he will answer---- but he was using a rope into the D-rings to attach the tow tube to him and a long handle with U joints…he changed that to a Long PVC handle to turn it on and off and steer. He said that it had to be modified to that it wouldnt turn on so easily. You will have to go and check it out—its a work of art!

I will be making a few tweaks on the tube taxi and then will post a complete pictorial on the tubing board. Here is a pic of the ropes I rigged…including the one that goes up over my head and cinches up around my waist to keep the tube taxi pulled tight against the main tube. When that is snugged up, the taxi is like an elongation of the main tube and I can steer by using my fins…just as if there were no motor. Look Ma…no hands.
I bought an extension for the on and off and steering handle. It worked well…but too well. It was too long and the weight would make the motor turn on when I did not want it on. As Fishkillr advised, I have replaced the high priced handle extension with a piece of lightweight schedule 200 PVC.
Working on a new design now to be able to mount the motor on the main Fat Cat. Got the frame diagramed but not put together yet.
