good question...

It might depend a bit on what kind of reel…

Spinner or conventional..?
Braid or mono..?

Spinners, ya need to really make sure it goes on without twisting, it needs to come off the bulk spool the same direction it goes on the reel spool.
`maybe others can tell how this is done..?

With conventional reels, it’s still important it goes on same direction.
I usually put a BIG chopstick thru the bulk spool & hold tension with my feet…

With braided lines, it needs to be Tight & cris crossing the line on the reel spool so it won’t dig in under pressure…

What knot do folks use for the connection to reel spool with mono & braid..?
