Now that’s a good question. An ice jig I could probably pull off. I’d jump in if that’d count. I have some hand painted jigs (very light lead) that I’ve been meaning to fluff up a bit.

I’ve never tried those waxworm type solid bodies. I’ll need to do some research on those. More you tubes…

And hey - I’d love to see that Mason Jar! Probably full of the type of crazy fluff monsters I’ve slapped together!

I knew someone would bring up the math-drill. So 10 flies, 10 tiers, 1 each…

Not really sure what you two are referring to as ice flies.
Sure one can use jigs in fly fishing but in open water. Not a great choice for rivers.
There are special “jig” hooks made for fly fishing with many made without the use of lead.

Here is an Ice Fishing Jig

Note the difference. A fly tying jig hook is about the same length as the matching nymph hook. You still tie a fly on the hook with fur, feathers, wire ans synthetics.

I tie my jigs in Pheasant Tails, Princes, Haresears, and Copper Johns and I use them when deep nymphing. My brother uses them ice fishing. I can cast them with a fly rod. On the larger ones, woolly buggers can be tied as well as Mohair Leeches.

The OP was talking about a fly swap, is that still what you all want to tie and do?

Ice flies to me would be Zebra Midges, WD40’s and Snow Shoe dries.
