#2- Water skiiers and pwc’s shooting by my boat an mach 10 only 40 feet from my boat.
#3-Watching someone at the cleaning station gutting an illegal fish, only to be told that they didnt know they it was illegal to keep and its not that big of a deal.

People stopping on the boat ramp to visit with their friends.

Boats and PWCs cutting across 50 feet behind me while I am trolling.

Snowmobilers and four wheelers zooming by 20 feet away from me and they could have easily gone by 100 yards away.

Fishing guests who “positively” say they can go fishing and then a couple days later ask their spouse if it is ok, only to find out that they can’t go.

People who forget to let me know that they can’t go (I guess they figure if they can’t go then I don’t want to go fishing either).

Those who are always late.
And to BLM, I could learn a lot about him having a place for everything, and keeping everything in its place. I do fairly well, but compared to him I am totally out of control.
People prepping their boat for launch in the launch-way.
Dudes … don’t get in line to launch your boat if you haven’t prepped it first! Freaking stop … pull aside… and do all your prep before hand!

What about people bringing their dogs on the trout stream??? They always seem to want to run and jump into the best hole in sight! That’s good for fishing…

I agree with the “know it all” attitude. I don’t care how much or little a person knows… two heads are ALWAYS better than one!
I won’t bash either PWC or skier folks in particular… lets just put it this way. People so self-centered that they act like they are the only ones on the lake really burn me!
Trash is a big pet peeve too.

O.k., I’ll admit it Mike. Since you caught one fish (a white bass and then dropped it in the lake while’st showing it to Craig) and I caught none that day I got jealous, so that’s why I barfed outside (and the wind blew it back inside) of your car! 
Sorry about that incident by the way! That sucked and I still feel embarrassed by the whole thing. One of these days you’ll have to return the favor and ralph in my car, LOL!
People complaining about things that really don’t matter it’s not a life or death situation. Life is too short so live it!!!
My peeve?
When my pants try to slide down to my ankles in my waders while I am trying to fish.
A couple of additions, or building on other comments.

People that feel they have to yell “FISH ON” so the whole lake can hear when they get a bite.

People that don’t understand wakes and the 150’ rule. I fished for a couple of years in small aluminum boats. Coming in at full speed then slamming off the throttle right when you reach that 150’ mark is not acceptable. That throws a bigger wake than if you had passed at full plane. Also, passing others just below the speed where you plane out throws a huge wake compared to full plane. Show some courtesy and just steer clear of those in smaller boats. If you happen to capsize one and you are within 150’ you are personally responsible for any damage or loss according to the law.
I have a bigger boat now, so it isn’t as big of a problem with me, but I try to be extremely cautious when around smaller boats.
- Duck hunters on fishing lakes. Ok, I don’t mind people duck hunting, it’s not like it’s going to affect the fishing. However, we were on Strawberry a couple of years ago and a guy had his kid duck hunting by Chicken Creek. The kid got caught up in the excitement and started firing directly toward us. You could see the shot hitting the water very close by. He got an earfull from us that I’m sure his dad didn’t care for, but the parent needs to teach the kid better BEFORE heading out.
Ha Ha! HFT, I have the OPPOSITE problem! My pant legs ALWAYS seem to ride up on me while in waders, specially while in my tube! I usually wear shorts underneath which don’t ride up nearly as much.
My pet peeve is also echoed by many here, where there is an entire shoreline to fish, but the second I catch one fish means that must be the only place in the entire lake where there are any fish, so someone decides to move in right on top of me and cast to the same spot, often snagging my line in the process.
duck hunters! i second that one…thanks for reminding me of the pain! j/k i am a duck hunter- i hunt at ogden and farmington bays a lot in my duck boat. my problem with duck hunters on fishing lakes stems from one bad experience-
last october we were trolling in renegade bay on strawberry. we came around a corner and spotted a decoy spread a couple of hundred yards away. we then corrected our course and kept as far away as we could. they had the bay covered, the furthest we could keep away was about 150 yards from the furthest point of there spread. there spread was at least 100 yards out! so we were 250 yards from them…roughly. were we in position to flare ducks? absolutely…but we couldnt help it- we were fishing!
so anyways, our trolling motor is pretty loud. we were trolling along and out of no where a duck boat flew behing us about 8 feet. (we didnt hear it coming) they were attempting to cut our lines. (going at least 15 mph) we were all using downriggers so they missed…all except my dad who was having great success flatlining that day. he was unfortunate to be holding his line, in the middle of letting out. his hand got cut pretty bad by the line stripping and ripping his skin. his rig was also lost- about 12 dollars! there reckless endagerment (8feet!), and injury to my dad, got us all pretty mad. but, of course, they had guns.
so, i called the dwr and they sent an officer out. it took him a while to get there, but we saw him launch about an hour after my call. unfortunately the duck hunters left right after they attacked us. they must of realized that people have phones these days. lucky for them i didnt have my rifle! i was pretty mad! okay, not mad enough to shoot anyone- but pretty mad by my standards.
so, yep, thats a pet peave of mine.

I know it’s a little warm for ice fishing, but here are my pet peeves when I go out on the ice.

Garbage left out on the ice such as pop cans, food containers, shucked sunflower seeds, cigarette butts, etc.

A 2-foot wide hole that somebody chopped out with a hatched by someone not concerned about the safety of other anglers. A little snow covering the hole can spell disaster for the unlucky one who steps in the wrong place.

People that get drunk and think the inhabitants of the entire lake wan’t to here how funny they are by yelling as loud as they can.

Wind. No matter which way you turn your back, the wind will out smart you.

Being downwind of smokers. (I agree with the view points of others in earlier posts)

Seeing people all around you catch fish after fish, using the exact same lure you are using, while you pray to the “fishing gods” to avoid the “skunk”.

Your on the lake at 7:00 AM. Your auger is still patiently waiting for you in the garage. (OK, I made that one up… but is going to happen to me someday)

Your trying to get on the ice at Pineview. The warm weather has melted the ice away from shore a bit. You leap confident that you will not get wet. You land halfway on the ice and halfway in the water. Your brand new outdoor radio with emergency siren spills out of the bucket and “goes off”. The 300 people out on the ice that didn’t see you take a spill are now all looking at you laying halfway on the ice and halfway in the water. (true story)
Ok, every peeve I’ve read is probably valid and warranted (to various degrees). Each one has a personnal flavor that may or may not apply to all. I think I can agree to all peeves posted. However, most are transitory and are not evident constantly, at least according to my 70+ yrs of experience. I’m going to tell mine now at great risk of affending some and voiceing an opinion of others that don’t want to “rock the boat”. If this is deleted I won’t be offended - much.
My #1 peeve is elitists (continuous). Boats, water skiers and scooters coming too close is #2 and Bass fisherman in their high dollar boats driving up at a high rate of speed and fishing on top of me in my tube #3.
