# FGR Burbot Catch Report -2/13/08

Had some guys up last night that wanted to catch a burbot. We ventured out to Marsh Creek, even in the midst of the big winter storm. It blew like crazy, dumped about 4 inches of new snow, but everyone got some action. We totaled 17 burbot and 1 lake trout before “saying uncle” at 7pm. The best action was the last half hour when you could barely see the shore. Apparently the worse the weather, the better the burbot?
Most of the fish were small, 14-18 inches. One of the guys got a 28-incher, his first burbot ever and the biggest I’ve seen personally. We were using jigging spoons, jigging Shad Raps, and jigs in glow color, tipped with sucker meat. Fish were caught from 12-41ft, right on the bottom.

Is Marsh Creek North of Lost Dog? I have been planning a burbot bash for months now and will finally go up on the 23rd. We plan on fishing all night long at Lost dog. Thanks for your report.

Nice Report! Those burbot sure sound like fun it’s a whole new world of fishing to me. Are they a pretty good fighting fish? If you got any pictures we’d love to see them!

Marsh creek is north of Anvil and south of Squaw hollow, a number of miles south of Lost Dog.

Not really, they just pull hard, like reeling in a wet sock. The best fight is trying to get them off the hook, as the wrap around your arm like a snake.
I attached a pic of the 28-incher my friend caught. The other pics I took didn’t turn out to well, with the flash off all the snow flakes. Enjoy, Ryno
