Favorite Lures-what's yours?

For trout I tend to go with a yellow panther martin w/ red dots and silver blade

bass I use a 1/8-1/4 oz jig w/ pumpkin pepper mr. twister grub.

steelies I’m leaning towards red trout beads.

For all around though it’s the panther martin. I’ve caught all of the above except a steelie on them, but I’ve caught several other species not mentioned.

7 Floating Rainbow Rapala.

These days I fish almost exclusively on Lake Lowell and the Snake River. I think my favorite on those spots is a soft plastic frog rigged weedless. It doesn’t produce the most fish, but does produce dramatic topwater strikes and great fun. My personal choices are the Ribbit for a fast retrieve or a Case toad when I want to work the bait slower. These toads also work well in the river when the grass gets thick, and produce some big smallies.

For alpine brook trout- 1/16 ounce maribou jigs in black, brown and olive.
For other trout- 1/16 ounce tube jigs in green hues.

Thomas Buoyant spoons in chartreuse, fluorescent red and copper. One of those will catch fish when nothing else works.

Hullapopper[sly] A rubber jighead in red and white (my favorite color) with a pinch of nightcrawler and trolled behind a float tube is one of my favorite setups. I have caught bluegill, bass, crappie, trout and perch on this setup. If I only had one lure this would be the one for me, as long as I had a float tube to troll it with or a boat which I don’t have.

I’m with ya catmaster23! Tube jig is my number two favorite lure. Great option as a multi-species lure.

[fishin] Man you guys have all done great reporting. Thanks. I am going to have to try some of your favorite lures, you have got me curious now.

You know as an after thought I decided to compile everyone’s comments on their favorite fishing lures. I thought your thoughts were worth trying. Might just increase my fishing success. Thanks again for your reports!!

Can you send me a copy of the compilation, please? iwantabuggy@gmail.com

My “Favorite” and the fishies too would be a #12 Haresear.

FG,

Interesting. I’ve had better luck with 14 and 16’s. Do you prefer natural, or one of the died colors. I have had excellent luck with rust color in size 16. Also had reasonable luck with green, both dark and light.

Natural is my go to. Maybe a little smaller on rivers, but that #12 was the key on Henry’s, an a great place to start on any lake. Olive could be killer during Damsel hatches though.

#12 elk hair caddis. Floats all day, useful most of the summer, and its fun to see a fish take a dry fly.

I agree, nothing like a dry, but fish don’t feed on the surface allot, but they feed subsurface 24/7

this is a hard one
trout spinning panther martin silver blade yellow body/black blade black body
trout flyfishing
dry-hopper
wet-my “secret” fly(means i don’t know the name) with #12-16 hairs ear

Iwantabuggy,

I just wrote down what everyone reported on the this post. DeeCee [fishin]

#7 Perch Rapala Shadrap can catch fish anywhere and almost anytime for me. From browns at Palisades, Flaming Gorge and Montana to pike caught in Ireland. It is my hands down favorite most anywhere and I fish with it 75% of the time below American Falls dam. Rainbows up to 10# and smallies love it too! I have casted it for Steelhead at times and someday I will land one of these on as well. Lauri Rapala was a genius!
