Echo Trolling 3/20

Picked up my dad at 7 and headed to Echo. Arrived before 8:00 am to 27 degrees. I prepped the boat but we decided to wait for the sun to peek over the hills before launching. We trolled dodgers and squid tipped with a piece of crawler or chub on 2 lines set at 10 to 15 ft on the downriggers. We put 2 other rods out long lining flicker shads behind the boat. We got a lot of love on both set-ups. The bows were very nice and some were very acrobatic, jumping multiple times and pulling hard. We were selective and kept 7 in the 17-20 inch range. I did catch one brown at 30 ft after seeing some deeper marks. The sun made the day super nice and we shed our jackets at around 11:00. We estimate catching around 30 fish, which was great because my dad doesn’t get out much anymore. He only wanted to keep 3 saying he didn’t need any more than that. The one below was very colorful and jumped multiple times. We put it back. Those colored up males usually don’t taste very good. All the ones I kept had nice orange colored fillets.

Nice report Paul, always great to get out with our Dads, you are lucky your dad lives so close. Sounds like you both had a good day.

Nice Rainbow. Thanks for sharing your report.
