Hopefully there are a few of the 17"+ that I usually catch left to make some babies. I never did find a 22"+ in there. Probably still a bunch of Perch.
A planting of spawning size fish would be the thing to do.
Hopefully some of those bigger fish are still in there. Condie definitely had the best average size around. Heck, I never topped 19", but there were so many 16-18" fish that it was still a lot of fun to fish.

There were probably very few over 20 inches. Even in the F&G reports there weren’t many. The slow growth of the fish makes it probable that there never will be many over 20" there. The fish die of old age when they start getting close to that size.
If I remember correctly, the 20 inch size limit was at the request of the canal company to make it a “trophy” lake. Essentially it makes Condie a catch and release lake. Which is ok too. It has provided us with a lot of heart stopping excitement.
I just hope that it recovers in the near future. The Pelican depredation this fall was ugly. I am guessing that F&G will try and plant some more bass back in there in the spring, if they can. I hope so anyway.

I know of two that have taken fish over 20 inches and I personally have taken a 20.75 and a 21.8 inch. The bigger of the two still had a trouts tail sticking out its throat.

Yep, all of these catches were back in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
That makes sense. I’ve only been fishing it the past few years. It was on track to have a bunch of big ones again, but the draw down certainly didn’t help.
