Sources say Dead water is out and fish are biting. Water conditions are high and muddy and boat launches aren’t open yet.
Report out of challis area is that the river is on the rise and getting muddy. Don’t see a big change anytime soon with the current weather forecast. Looks like the whole system may be a challenge for a while.
Likely there will be no fishing below North Fork this year as lowland snow melt from Challis Lemhi Pahsimeroi Valley to North Fork is raising the water and with temperatures in the mid to upper 50’s for the next ten days, fish will be out of the lower river before it clears. Same scenario only amplified as the spring of 2003. Could change but it is doubtfull. Poetic justice as all roads leading from my place are washed out for a couple days due to lowland snowmelt exactly the same situation that is muddying the Salmon.
