Actually I’m getting antsy for the whitefish to start their spawn the weekend after thanksgiving. It can be fast and furious for some of the absolute best eating fish there is.
Where did you disappear to during the cat contest?
Ironic isn’t it? Despite the name, Lave can’t handle the heat. Misses out on lots of good summer action. But he likes the ice. I tribute him with turning me onto ice fishing.
Skunked also is doing great at not living up to his name!
Hey john, I was actually wondering if porcupine is good enough in the winter to be worth hauling my carcass over there. Do you ice fish it and if so, is it for the kokes or Browns?
I’ve fished Newton in the past, but don’t know what to expect after the massive dry up it went through summer before last. It used to be one of my favorite winter spots years ago.
BTW, I got the stuff in the mail that you sent me. It looks good, thanks a bunch!
Mike, if I didn’t live on Cutler I definitely wouldn’t waste my time and gas to try ice fishing it. But since its close I try it for short trips, but when I want to catch something, I go elsewhere. I think Cutler is probably about done for me this year. I noticed a lot of ice building on the sloughs that still had water and the river banks were freezing making them very dangerous for getting in and out of the river, they are steep and when they freeze they get very slick and hard to keep your footing. So I think its repair and re-rig season for me, unless I get my toon fixed quick and I go try Willard or Bear Lake with Pat. Anyway if you get over this way on the ice let us know and we’ll stop by and say “hey”. I may take my flag this year so its easier to tell who I am under all the snow gear. Ice season is fun for the easy visiting it allows, and I’m like you I like safe ice before I get too adventurous. Anyway catch ya later J
