Sounds like you had some of the same “surfing” conditions I had. I’d like to make the whole lake a wakeless zone…but of course that’s not likely to ever happen.

Are we gonna get together for our annual “fall fling” on Starvy? I caught a lot of my fish in the same area you and I fished from your boat last year. But the water levels were much higher this time. Couldn’t even see the long rock finger that comes out from shore.

**Thanks. While Starvation has been much better in the past…both for fishing and for power squadron hassles…it is still ALMOST worth the long drive from the Wasatch Front. The scenery and the varied fishing structure make it aesthetically pleasing. And when the fishing is good it can be VERY good. **

Any thoughts on why the numbers are up again? Have we had many good water years for the spawn lately? Seems like this year and maybe a good one 2 or 3 years ago.

There are usually good numbers of SMALL walleyes on Starvation most years. And there are still plenty of big ones too…except they don’t succumb to the same stuff the little tykes do. They also tend to feed a lot at night during the warmer times. But early and late in the year…if you can find where their groceries are…you can hang some bigguns.

I have not fished Starvation nearly as much the last couple of years as I used to. Since it has become “Pineview East”…with all the power squadron yoyos…it is more problematic for serious finesse fisherfolk. Hard to focus and make delicate presentations to finicky fish when you have to hang on to something with one hand to keep from going overboard from all the waves.

**There are tremendous differences in depths and bottom contour conditions in different parts of the lake throughout a complete year. And the fish really do move around…according to their own whims. When I fished it more often and more regularly I was better able to keep track of the temperature variations and the fish movements. If I only get over a time or two I have to guess where to launch…with limited range in my float tube. And ya cain’t ketch 'em where they ain’t. But if I guess right and fish right I can still smack a few.
