This is the official place to volunteer you and your boat for the DAV Fishing Event scheduled for August 8, 2009 a[#800000]t the Soldier Creek arm of Strawberry Reservoir. I know some of you have already indicated your support on Bassrods Sticky thread, but I need some further information, so please respond here with the details. It was decided that certain types of boats would not be appropriate for this event due to the size of the reservoir and the risks associated with larger bodies of water. It was decided that Jon boats, car top or truck bed transported boats, canoes, and other smaller craft would not be appropriate.[/#800000] Boat length should be 16 feet or longer and should be rated for at least a 75 hp outboard. Boats meeting the minimum length but having a smaller motor than 75 hp would be okay, but the boat should be rated for 75 hp or more. The following information about you and your boat is requested: 1. - Your real name- BFT User name- Phone # (Home, cell, or both)- Direct email address- Your boat type (Deep-v, bass, pontoon, etc)- Boat length- Crew size (including yourself)- Number of DAV guests you want to accommodate Please PM this information to me (Dubob). With out enough boats we will have to turn away Vet’s and I sure hope that dose not happen… If the sponsors come up with what has been promised for one or more of the boaters..Well you just don’t want to miss out as a boater… As I get confirmed sponsors I will post there names… ---

We still need some more boats - especially a couple of pontoon boats to help with wheelchair veterans. ---

\*\*FYI. The annual Catch A Special Thrill(CAST) for kids is always scheduled that saturday in august. So boats might be hard to come by. Its an event thats been running for about 10 years. This year its at Rockport. \*\* ---

Yes it is at Strawberry and you do not have to troll. We are just trying to help the vets have a nice day on the lake. If you can get them onto some fish by jigging for fish that would be fine. Thanks for your offer of help. Dubob will give you all the info you will need when he gets back. WH2 ---

Exactly how many more boats are needed for the veterans.That number is not known at this time. What we hope to achieve is at least 25 boats and we are at 16 at present. Twenty five boats would allow us to host approximately 50 veterans with an average of 2 per boat. If we have less than 50 veterans, we would have more boats with just one veteran on board. We do not have any pontoon boats volunteered at this time. We do not know how many wheelchair bound veterans we will have, but a few are expected and a pontoon boat would be ideal for these folks. So, we are nine short of 25 boats which I feel would probably cover us. And if we can get 2 or 3 pontoon boats in those nine, we should have all our bases covered. ---

I have word from Berkley and Cabelas and The Home Depot that they will help and are sending goodies for the DAV,s and maybe for the help [;)] If you are not there you will miss out big time… We need more boats!!! I would hate to have to tell a DAV we don’t have room for him to fish after what they have gone through so please we need your help and boats… ---
