Boat Help

Thanks a ton for the info. I’m not sure I can get under the floor from the engine compartment. However, this does give me some good ideas for different directions to go to make that work. That should be really helpful. One more month and I’ll be out there staring at the boat trying to find the best way to do this.

Thanks again.

addic. to fishing,

I was just wondering if I could give you a call. I have narrowed my choices considerably. However, there are still several questions that I have. If this is all right, just PM me your number and a convenient time to get a hold of you.

If this is a problem, I totally understand. You, as well as others, have already helped me out a lot.

The few things I am conviced of is that I am definately going to look for a boat that is at least 18’ long. Also, I am going to stick to the Outboard Motor.

Thanks again,

Jason

I’m a bit difficult to get in touch with as I work afternoons / evenings. However, I can probably be reached mid-day sometime before 2pm. Or, if you would like, you can PM me some of the questions. Either way works for me. I’m no expert, but I know what I found works for me and my needs after a lot of looking.

On other thing to keep in mind that I thought of after reading your post. You mentioned you want outboard and at least 18’. It is going to be quite difficult to find anything over 18’ with an outboard on it. Most outboards just don’t have the push for that size of boat. My last one was a 17.5’ with a 135hp outboard. Also, a lot of the outboards don’t have the long shaft for the deep v hulls, so most you will find are on tri-hulls or shallow hulls like bass boats.

One other thought would be if you were attending the Sportsman’s Expo this week. I will probably spend a fair amount of time there on Thurs and Fri, and the morning of Sat with my girlfriend and her 2 kids. I would be happy to discuss it there.

I will be there Saturday morning. If you can, just give me a call. I PM’ed you my number. Thanks again.

I just wanted to thank all of you for your help and great advice. Addicted2fishin sent my many PM’s and answered a lot of questions about what to look for.

I finally found a boat that I believe was a great deal. It is an 86 Glasply with 52 original hours. It has new downriggers and a new fishfinder. Its kind of ironic; its the exact fish finder that I use for ice fishing.

I tried to attach some pic’s but the files size was too large. I will see if i can fix the problem and post them later. Thanks again

Hey, congrats on the boat! Yes, you should post pics of your new “trophy”.

There was a thread on here a week or so ago about resizing photos. The easiest thing to do would be to use Paint, which should be on your computer if you have Windows. Here are the steps to take: [ol] - Open the photo in paint - Click on “Image” at the top of the program - Click on “Stretch/Skew” - Under “Stretch” you can adjust the image size, both horizontally and vertically. Adjust both the same. For example, change the 100% to 75% on both to make it 75% of the original size. - Save the file and it should be ready to download.[/ol]
The attached file here is one that was from my 3.2 megapixel camera. I used the above steps and adjusted it down to 50% of its original size. This was my first trip to Willard bay and my first wiper, caught last Sept, I believe.

Here are some pic’s. I hope this works.

Looks like a nice clean boat.

Cadresults … Great find Dude! 52 hrs on an '86 is unbelievable! Nice little boat.

Hey, congrats on finding one you like. Have you tested it out yet?

Try that trolling plate out a couple of times and see how you like it. However, using that will add up the hours on your motor quickly. You may still eventually want to go to a secondary trolling motor. If you do I would still recommend looking into the remote troll. As I mentioned, my newer boat has one on it and I now wonder how I ever went without it.

I also like the guides on your boat trailor. It looks like it has the self leveling kind. The boat I have now is a LOT harder to get straight and level on the trailer than my tri-hull was. That’s going to take me a bit more practice…maybe that’s how I can justify taking the boat out more often this year.

addicted2fishin,

I haven’t tried it out yet. I am registering it to day and then taking in for a tune-up. I agree with you about the motor. I will probably try and sell the plate and one of my rifles to pay for a decent trolling motor. I will probably look at a 6-15 horse 4-stroke (preferably).
