Well seeing as I dont think any one else is going to ring-in in the next few minutes I suspose I can extend the contest to March 31st. will that help?
Hi Dave,
It was a tough year for me We iced a lot of perch and a few bass,Iām going out this afternoon to see if I can get some crappie. We still have plenty of ice so I should get out on the weekend as well. Iāll post some more pics. if i get anything different.
I know what ya mean, been a rough one here as well, I just got lucky last weekendā¦
I too am pretty much limited on posting any thing different unless I get it by axident, the season is closed and michigan has a law that you cant target a fish that is out of season⦠(anti stress law) I for the most part agree with itā¦
I did catch a few nice bass this winter just no camera on hand at the timeā¦
Its been rough for me as well. Ive been on one trip were I actually caught fish, unfortunatly I broke my camera. I will be up at Lake of the Wood again this weekend, but I will only be able to fish on Friday, Sat and Sun I will be playing in an Old timers hockey tournament.
Ive caught many walleye (on the one trip I actually caught fish), Ive been out a few times for crappie and caught nothing.
Iāll bring a disposable camera with.

Just to show that there are other fish in ny hereās a couple I caught yesterday.
I got in to those yesterday as well. lost all the crappie that came up my hole thoā
I can be happy catching gills and crappie like those all day long⦠![]()
good luck⦠hope the Big-uns are on line for ya⦠let us know how you doā¦
Thanks for extending the contest. Unfortunately I couldnāt join flagman and minneman. I hope they got a picture of the 37 inch pike that flagman called to brag about. LOL.
Iām heading out tomorrow and Sunday. Just had a nice storm blow through and dump a little snow on the ground here in my area. But it caused delays at the airport (just 20 minutes south of me) for a couple hours and just 45 minutes from here they got well over 12 inches and some areas are expecting 24 inches.
Pike, walleye, and bass season are over but thereās also the āunderutilizedā fish and pannies waiting. Iāll see if I can find more of them 11 inch crappies in the local pond tomorrow. Who knows, maybe Iāll catch a little northern. My friends dad hooked into one while we were catching sunnies a week ago. Thing weighed 10 lbs 13 oz. Never did measure it. But thereās channel catfish in there waiting for me. And another fishing hole up the road, somebody said they caught 3 dog fish through the ice. So maybe Iāll check out his spot and catch them again.
Good luck,
Make sure you throw a hand towl in your pail to wipe off the slime that dog fish will put on your hands⦠EEEEEOoooooo!!!

Today on the ice it was one of those days where it wasnāt important to catch fish even thou we did ice a few perch. The ski was clear and sent down a refreshing warm glow. There was no wind to speak of and it was quite still. The only sound that broke thru was a plane at about 35 thousand feet There were only 5 other fishermen out and not much action for them either, but hey with a day like this who could resist taking a nap, so my lady streched out on the folded up portable shed and did just that. I know we say it was a great day when we ice a mess of fish, but this day was exceptional just for the beatty of it. It was a great note to end our ice season on. You gotta know I just love it.
You may apreciate my day this March 19 of 05.
It began waking to the rise of the sun, I fumbled and stumbled to dawn upon my winter wear and find my Ice rods and bucket. steped out in to the first days light expecting to see the forcasted weather predictions of snow rain and a coat of ice. It was as the day before.
I climed up on my quad and rode a mile across the lake to the opening of a canal where I parked at the mouth. as I entered the canal on foot a possum was cleaning the bits of carin left behind by yesterdays anglers. as I entered further a racoon crossed my path, and thee deer walked out upon the ice where I would stake clame a hole from which I would catch my gills of the day.
I opened my hole upon arival and had just caught my first Gill of the day when the signifier first sign of spring the loon of the lake arived and sat upon a large limb and watched over me for an hour as I fish, I offered him my first gill and tossed it upon the ice beneith him and he looked but did not want it. I continued to fish and 20 minutes later another loon flew just feet away from me then across the lake he went. The first loon sat and continued to watch over me and groom himself.
Minutes later three wood ducks arived passing over head by meer feet seeking open water. and after that a squril chooses to show him self as he gathered not yet bursting buds from the undergroth. The cardinal who sang of winter has begun to sing his song of spring as the Canadian geese fly high over head in their migritory path swooping and swerling as the flock breaks in to family units departing on to the lakes from which the they first departed.
Oddly enuff I did find time to catch a limit of gills with all this camotion going on.![]()
Man I blew it!, and you guys got off lucky! LOL!
I forgot I needed to be in the picture with the fish rather than merely have a photo of myself laying with the fish, tape and BFT logo. The photos of fish & myself I had that met the needs for this contest were caught before this contest began. Oh Well, bring on next ice season!!
Ok, you talked up the photo pretty good, are you going to show us the pic and tell us what kind of fish it is and lenth?![]()
Ok Daveā
, lol..
Actually I meant fish in the plural sense.
I think I loaded the best of my Mac caught this year to āMy best catchesā post. My 42" Mac didnt make it into the MGB ice fishing challenge on the Utah board due to the fact the tape was hard to read so my 39" Mac was used in the contest instead. The Utah board MGB Challenge was an 8 game fish maxium contest but I ended up with tunnel vision for Mac and only caught 7 game fish.
