Humming Bird 565, I have had one on my Bass Boat for a couple of years, I also take it off and use it for ice fishing. Always able to see the fish. I can also tell you that it is durable I just throw it in my ice sled and go. If you look look at the power and the pixels you will not find a better unit at that low of a price either.
I have an expensive Eagle unit with GPS and it is really having trouble. It will faze out and say the water is only 2 or 3 feet deep when I know it is 30 or 40 feet deep. Then it will read correctly for a short while and then go crazy again.
The GPS keeps beeping lost position, aquired position, lost position. It is constantly doing that. For the money I paid I am very dissapointed.
If anyone know what may be the problem or how to get an Eagle serviced, I would love to hear what you know.
Thanks
I finally boiled it down to just three things to spend money on… 1. POWER 2.MORE POWER 3. Pixels
My unit is 20 yrs old (to put my opinions in context). It still beats most of what is on the market. No color back in the day. Back then hummingbird was junk, so I bought a couple of Eagles… both under powered with very poor resolution. The x60 was more than worth the 300 bills.
What I’m saying is “all the bells and whistles aren’t worth squat if you can’t see anything on the screen” whatever brand you buy spend all your money on the three things listed above and you will be a very happy fisherman.
I originally got an M68c Lowrance for ice fishing. When I got my bass boat I replaced the POS that came with the boat with it and gave the POS to the son of a fishing buddy, which was better than the nothing he had. In the winter I take it off the boat and use it for ice fishing.
It may be getting a little long in the tooth with what is available now, but I have a larger screen Lowrance up front on my boat and the M68c remains my my "go to’.

dude I got a fishing buddy and you can meet me at causey in the next couple days and try it out. it just clamps your boat, you know what i’m talking about im sure! I bought it last year for the kokes and it worked great! works good for it fishing too if you can get it in the hole straight, I just packed snow in the hole around it. I am going to causey tonight so PM me if you want to try it out!
Thanks for the info, but I just ordered my new Hummingbird 565. I looked over all the specs on the different units and this has the most bang for your buck. Should be a great little unit.
I sent you a PM about Causey Kokes ![]()
