It is probably the size of the movie that is causing you problems. It is too big for me to email. Sorry about that.
[;)]** Thats a pretty good report. Sounds like you had a great guide. I go up on the Kenai nearly every other year and have fished with a lot of the outfitters both up and down river. Some of them are great and some of them seem burned out on clients and should probably find a job that they actually like. [unimpressed]**
**Great pics! **
I just watched your bear video. I think I’ve been to that very spot about 5 years ago. Did you fly in and land on a lake and then take boats to the river inlet?
I have pics of bears jumping into the water after the Pinks. They actually got into one of the boats and stole the fish while we were standing there…[:p]
Yes I took a float plane in and a small boat picked us up to one of the river inlets. This time of year only reds and silvers were in there. Bet it’s the same place. I think the name of the river coming out the other side is Bear River and the lake is Bear River Lake, but not sure about that. Here is a waterfall picture which you might remember and a picture of the lake with the planes coming in.

Very nice report.

Thanks
I agree with you about the guides, we had one this year on The Kenai that totally sucked, lost our first fish to a new knot he was trying and mainly set and watched other boats catch fish. We did have three other good trips out, a combo out of Seward, and two Halbut trips out of Deep Creek. The wife and I plan on going back again but it won’t be with the guide we booked on the Kenai.![]()
** I agree, it’s really important to do your homework when it comes to booking lodges and guides.**
The very first time I fished the Kasilof years ago, we met the guide at his drift boat…it was full of trash and junk and he was about 16 years old…missed every hole on the way down.
Needless to say, we didn’t pay the lodge for that trip! [pirate]
You cant go too wrong going out of Deep Creek for Halibut, though. I’ve never had a bad trip there…except for the weather. It can get pretty rough. One year the seas were so tough that one of our party actually broke his arm.
On another note, what’s Favre doing???

Not sure who or what you are referring to. I don’t have a PM if it was directed at me.
Retire I hope, the Packers and Fans need to get on with our lives. If Rogers sucks as a QB then so be it but he deserves a chance. We were referred to this guide by one of our charter trips. He has a fairly large operation I don’t want to mention names of the outfit but as you head across the bridge in Soldotna towards Homer he is located upstream on the West bank you can see his sign from there, with a boarded river walk and BBQ patio on the river. He will be at the Expo this winter in SL. You all have fun fishing it’s time to think archery hunt now.![]()

Ktrout: Fiction responded to your post as a past guide on the Talachulitna. I am headed there in two days, wanted to talk to him. So that is “who or what” I am referring to.
GSP: Sorry I thought you were calling someone a liar, I didn’t see a name called fiction.
Have fun on the Talachulitna.
I have fished from Talkeetna to Seward quite a bit from 89 to present…03-07 went about 3x a summer and figure I’ll head up sometime in aug or sept to have the girlfriend hook up with some silvers…know some good places for fish but one thing I try to take advantage of is all of the great food. If you get a chance you gotta hit Orzo’s in Anchorage for the Osso Buco, and also in Girdwood you NEED to go to The Double Musky for a great steak and good pecan pie. It is a great experience, Have fun
OK, I got those places to eat written down. Shoot me a pm if you got any suggestions where to go as we’re flexible for 3-4 days. I’m out of here come Monday for 11 days and the weather forecast looks perfect up there
.
Mooses Tooth - Best damn pizza you’ll ever eat.
And don’t trust the weather reports. They just list partly cloudy or mostly cloudy every day as the really don’t know. My boss said he met a “meteorologist” for one of the local news stations. Apparently this guys said with La Nina, he really has no idea whats going on.
Have a good trip though and if you’re in a camper, stay out of my way on the highway![;)]
On the Kenai, reds were running good last weekend but probably slowing down. Kings should be running pretty well though.
