Well my plans for chasing the smallest kitty fell through today. The river is too muddy. Well plenty of time to go catchin…[;)]
I’m still looking for a chance to try it myself… Still haven’t been out for cats since the contest began… But the weather hasn’t been very good anyway so I’m not too worried yet… Later J
Hey, If it’s not too late, sign me up for the South. It’s the only way I can get myself to fish somewhere besides the bay.

Thanks
Ok will do, but probably on Monday before I’ll update chart. Later J
blk, wasn’t there something on here about the first 30 incher posted[:p] I lost that bright purple and green, walmart clearance, had to buy cuz it was $1.50, just try something different to get a bite lure, I know we all have some, and sometimes they work.
MSM – Right you are about that first 30 incher posted prize! I more or less assumed I would be awarding that prize to myself but I humbly acknowledge that pig you posted up takes the prize… it is less painful to admit because it was a*** southern*** cat. I congratulate you on a great fish.[crazy]
Now your prize: a genuine 150 yard spool of Power Pro braided line, 20 # test. There is a catch-- I insist on awarding the prize in person. If memory serves me right you are a Spanish Forker?? We are destined to converge at Lincoln some time this summer and I will look forward to a hand shake and a hand delivery then. Congrats again!!
Any significance to the 1970 in your moniker? D.O.B? I have a son born in 1970 and he married a SF gal. Just wonderin’

I wish I could get in on this. I went for two days and got 35 cats. I had two that were over 30" one was 12 pounds and the other was 14. I forgot my camera mount but you can see that these fish are laying on my lap and their heads are above my knee.
The 14 pound fish
The 12 pound fish
Good luck in your contest guys. Get some big ones.
Thanks Lynn for doing those prizes for us, it’s been fun to watch that come together very quickly this year. I finally got out tonight and I forgot how much a cat will fight. Fun to get the first one under my belt. Later J
Ron those fish you catch are amazing. You need to stir up some interest on the Idaho board and get a contest going. I’ve had several idahoans want to join in our little contest so I’m sure you could find 8-10 to help start your first year. You’re welcome to borrow any of our rules or whatever to help you get it going. Let me know if I can help. Later J
One more on 4-4-16
Cutler Res
Measured at 22"
Sounds good to me, we probably already have meet or at least waiteted for one another on the ramp. It’s just D.O.B
Good lookin’ cat Jeff… not a monster but at least you are on the board. I hope to get out again after this little cold spell is over. Ice Sled has been out and they seem to be biting for him.
MSM-- I’ll watch for ya… or you can watch for me… grungy old white Chev with diamond plate tool box, 17 ft.Tracker and a grungy old fisherman. Lots of time left and as I always say… THE BEST IS YET TO COME.

Hey Lynn, oops looks like I screwed up and put that post on the wrong spot. They were nice fat cats, just not very long, but I was glad to get on the board and started. Knowing me I have to inch up all season instead of catching something decent early, but it keeps it fun. Be good to see you start your climb. I was hoping to get on the top spot once this year, but it doesn’t look like I’m going to with all these nice cats coming in already. Oh well I’ll try my best and see what happens. Later J
Cats are starting to get a little hungry! I think this is going to be a good year for the big ones. I think I might have to try cutler. I have been seeing some nice ones being pulled out of there lately and they are making my Bear River cats look like kittens!
blk, I’m in a white dodge, white trailer, deer and elk stickers in the back window, blue and white bayliner, I’ll watch for ya to, maybe tonight if the wind stays away.
Think shallow water this time of year. I know it’s counter what we usually think, but there are nice sized fish in 2’ of water. I haven’t caught anything over 28" in the shallows, but I get a fair amount up to 26" there. Good luck. J
I caught that 30 bouncing the rapala across the rocks in about 1 ft bringing it back out to 5 ft really slow, would have stop reeling to let it float up, it took it in about 2-3 ft of water.
So I guess that means the big boys go shallow too. I just haven’t been lucky enough to find one yet. Hopefully I will this year. I was surprised how fat the fish have been so far this year, they seem to be in good shape. Thanks for that info. J
