I want to see a 30" er buddy!
Caught two at 26 inches today, 6-1, fishing at Sandy Beach on UL. Either one should be good enough to bump my 24 incher.
Water temp is holding steady at high 60’s. Carp going crazy everywhere.
BLK
Nice job Lynn, good for 26 twice, but only one needed to up score… J
good job, I better get out there and up some numbers, is the water holding or starting to drop a little.
Water seems to be holding at about 1.7 feet in the shallowest part of the launch. I can’t see any change in depth for the past couple of weeks. Maybe we have seen our high water mark for this year???
Cats are bitin’ big time now. Sometimes hard to keep two poles in the water. I hope to put in a night shift soon… maybe wait for full moon on the 20th.
Go get 'em!
BLK
Long “dry” spell for me. Picked this one up today, 9-8, that looks to be about 27 1/2 inches. A helping hand to do a tail pinch would have maybe made 28. I’ll try for 27 1/2. Not much of a bump but hey, every little bit helps.
Caught at Lincoln dragging a chub for bait.
BLK
Hey Lynn nice fish, good for 27.5 points, next time show the label so I can see the year… Good to see you on the fish… Later J BLK… sorry just rolled a rev so your numbers won’t show until the next rev… J
Another 27 incher will help. Caught 9-10 at Lincoln. The south is inching up… we will retake that top spot within a couple of weeks.[;)]
Hope Jeff gives me credit for this one since he did not add my 27 1/2er in his last update… maybe that is how the north is gaining ground ???
BLK
Lynn good for 27 points, except the big kink in it looks like it could have went for more, get your bump board out with you so we can give you full points.. Later J
Hey BLK I’ll get ya updated tomorrow when I have my computer up and running. Good luck on your run for the top. Later J
No problem Jeff – I know it is your busy time of the year and my measly inch or two will be enter in due time. You might want to hold off a week or two cuz I expect to add some real inches in the near future. [;)]
Lynn
Hey Lynn if I don’t get it entered now I wont so I’ll do it tomorrow. Besides if UL keeps dropping your fish will be dehydrated and then you’ll never find a bigger fish. I’m sure they are already shrunken down a couple inches. Later J
Caught this snaky old cat today, 9-27, at Utah Lake. He’s all head and no body; doesn’t look very healthy. Had a hard time getting a good pic in the dark (4 a.m.) but I think I can squeeze 29 inches out him. No big deal if the tape does not show up well enough I’ll ketch a bigger one later this week.
Still finding plenty of cats but still nothing big. Soon.
BLK
Lynn, I’m conflicted on this one… I’m seeing 30", but the kink in your tape may affect the true reading, but yes you have 29 points for sure, but I don’t know if I can give you the 30… Since you only asked for 29, I’ll give you that many points… Probably should be more… J
nice one BLK. he dose look a little Undernourished, but we’re looking for inches not lbs.
Thanks Ahi–
Glad you are up and after them again. That 90+ score of yours is going to be hard to beat. Good luck… sort of… [;)]
I’m still lookin’ for my first 30 incher this year. Years past I have always had at least a couple 30 inchers. I can blame it on the low water in Utah Lake… sort of.[:(]
Contest ends on a Sat. with a full moon. I hope to put in a few all-nighters that week if the weather cooperates. That 36 incher I have been chasing for years is out there – just gotta connect with him.
Best to ya,
BLK
You dang guys got me sitting in the dark on a bucket shivering just to try to keep up with your dust. 23.5" is the best I can scare up so far and it’s slow goen. Nice job guys. Later J
Jeff-- 29 inches on that last one is fine. With a proper tail pinch and a little daylight I probably could have stretched him to at least 29 1/2. That one needed to get back in the water in hurry cuz he just did not look very healthy.
My bump board is too bulky to haul around and the tape measure is hard to position on a flopping fish. Bought me a new bump board today. The last one only went to 36 inches – new one goes to 39 inches… I’m ready.
Appreciate all you do with the contest.
Lynn
Hey Lynn that one looks nice, however, you are going to have to watch the lighting so I can read the numbers on it. Check your pictures before you let the fish go… Good luck finding one that is too long for that board… Later J
Caught this one today, 10-4, at Lincoln. Beautiful day and did not expect to have much action with recent cold front. Cats were very hungry… several in the 25-27 inch range. Was fishing from shore wishin’ I would have brought the tin tub. Dead calm water and no other fools fishing.
Left my new bump board in the boat so had to use grungy old tape measure again. I think this one will go 28 inches for a little score bump.
30+er coming soon.
BLK
Nice Job Lynn pretty fish good for 28 points… J
Edit: Added a second pic that might help.
Caught this one 10-12 at Lincoln… a good healthy 28 incher. He will only add a half inch to my score but I need every fraction I can get this year. First year I have ever had without at least a couple 30 plus cats. Next year for sure.
Best to all,
BLKL
Hey Lynn happy 28 points looks like maybe 5th place unless other later scores bump you down… Not a bad year, even if it wasn’t up to your usual level… Thanks for being a solid part of the contest… J
