Enjoyed a day on the water in the pontoon. Trying to get out and relax and forget about a heart procedure Deb is having tomorrow morning. Fishing was pretty good for us. We fished for a little over 4 hours. Water temperature was a warm 76-78 degrees. Another breezy day and not many boats out. We caught 27 crappie...2 channel cats...1 bream...1 yellow perch. We bass fished early and I lost a bass around 4 pounds at the pier in the HBSP marina slough. It was sitting in that slightly deeper 10 foot depth up against the pier. Trying to get a bass up and in a pontoon isn't the easiest thing in the world and it got off about the time we got a net down to the water. Oh well...better luck for me next time. We caught a few of our crappie at Patton Island but most were up near the Bear Trace golf course again. We used double rigs of jigs and minnows fishing in 10-20 feet. The majority of the fish were in 15 feet and suspended. We usually had a jig on top and a minner on the bottom. We caught two crappie on one rod... 4 times ! That's our most times ever and for the amount of crappie that was way above the "norm" for us. We caught about as many white crappie as blacks with one going 13.5 inches...a 13.25...and a 12.5 inch black crappie. Some cell phone pics...
