Vancouver Island Reports

We are still about 3 weeks from the start of our halibut season. Until then here is another fish of the week picture. This weeks fish of the week was caught on the afternoon of August 12, 2003 at Otter Point. A foggy day with flat calm water. We arrived just before the low slack tide change and I was outside of the other boats to make it easier to get the gear set up. We hit this fish almost as soon as the gear was in the water. A beautiful 45 pound Chinook.

Nice fish. Was that the only fish of the day or did you get more?
I'm in the Burlington WA area and we have been getting a lot of fog too.
Is it OK if I post that picture on my website?
Good Luck

I keep log books of all our trips and have records back to 1986 when I started my guiding career. The entry for that day says we also brought back a 30 pound Chinook and another about 7 pounds. We also lost 3 more, all in a 4 hour afternoon trip. You can use the photo as long as the photo credit is from Sooke Salmon Charters. Thanks
