Largemouth bass (urban lake advise)
#1
I have a few questions that I couldn't find a answer browsing online and hoping you guys might be able to help. I have started fishing in AZ Urban lake's since this June. I had good luck with catfish, blue gills... but I love Bass... I had a very hard time trying to catch a Bass (fishing mostly at Chaparral lake). I tried a lot of different type of lure/bait, but no luck. But about 6 weeks ago, meet a nice regular bass fisherman there and he show me how to use the plastic worm... instantly within 5 minutes I caught a large mouth. Since then I have been doing good, caught a 17" 3lbs a week after that.

However, last weekend I was back out there in the afternoon at sunset, I caught a few 6-7 inches large mouth, nothing more. So I figure I would come back the next morning early to see it might be better. The next morning I went back at 7am and fish until 1pm.... nothing... weather was about 60F to 85F. I saw at least 20 bass in the water, 3-4 times I throw the lure right in front of them, they look at it... then slowly switch gear into reverse... then swim away (I tried different colors worm, somewhat same result). I am shocked! I know fishing can be slow in cold weather, but turn away? Any advise?
Thanks

If you can see fish actively moving away from your offering there is one fundamental issue. They didn't want it. Presentation might not have appeared natural in origin. It is also usually a slower time of year for bass fishing, cold in the mornings. If I'm getting skunked using a worm imitation or similar I will usually switch to an agitator type of lure.

Also, there are days when nothing works no matter what you try.
