Trout Season
#1
Anyone have any plans for tomorrows trout opener? I'm headed out to greenfield lake in Gilbert. I've fished it a few times now and had pretty good luck with the catfish.

Hit the lake yesterday. No one there. I was all alone for about an hour. Fishing was slow but I did manage 2 bows. One was a 8" and the other was about 12". I was using green glitter powerbait with a treble. I did find out from a kid there that they stocked on Monday so i missed the big day after. Oh well, I guess there's still a few left in there.

I went to the Riparian Ranch Water Reserve for a couple of hours. I caught one tiny trout and later saw one come right up to the edge of the lake that seemed pretty big.

Where were you fishing? I was by the bridge on the library side from about 12:30-2:30

I was about 6-8 light poles south of the bridge (3-4 from that no fish zone by the corner of the parking lot) from 8-10pm. It was nice.

Thats my goto lake just because it is so close to my house.

Yeah it's a nice lake. It gets a little crowded but I guess that's expected being in the city and all. Do you fish any other urban lakes?

Just curious about your trout opener. You have a separate season for trout in AZ?

I guess it's not really an opener. It's just the day they start their trout stocking schedule. I just moved down here from Logan,UT so I'm not really sure but I think you can fish for trout year round it's just not really an option with all the heat at the lower elevation lakes. I'm sure people do catch a few trout when it's hot just like its done there but I would assume the fish aren't targeted as much. I do think you could probably fish for and catch trout in the heat of summer at the higher elevation lakes.
