I have caught a SMB off the Provo Boat Harbor dike near the rocks and there are LMB in Deer Creek, im guessing if you got one 5 pounds that would be on the very large side.

Biggest LMB I ever saw was near the Charleston bridge. I didn't check my line strength. It watched the bass rise and slowly grab my flatfish , set the hook, only my line was soooo weak, it snapped. It didn't even phase the fish. It slowly swam away. I then found out that my line was so weak, i snapped it apart with a couple of fingers. That bass I'm guessing was at least 5 lbs. I've caught a 4 lber in Quail a couple of years ago

Hmm the title was a not anything like you were asking but I can still answer it for ya.
Look at the fish tech "fish pic wall". There is a huge one from deer creek on there. That was all the confirmation I needed to believe.

Here is my best from Deer Creek. I am mad because the cell phone picture does not do this fish any justice.
He was every bit of 5lbs if not more.

Of course my 275 lb frame doesn't help my fish look any bigger either.

Utah Lake is down stream from Deer Creek which is loaded with SMB. SMB do very well in a stream environment and will travel down stream from Deer Creek to Utah Lake. While Utah Lake is not a preferred habitat for SMB, they will survive and spawn there.
Regarding 5lb LMB in Deer Creek. They have been there for years and when the lake comes up and floods the brush and weeds in the North end, they go nuts. You will see a peak in the LMB population in 2-3 years.
Get a Flippin Stik, learn how to flip the flooded brush and vegatation in the North end and you will catch them. Biggest 5 fish limit I ever weighed at Deer Creek was caught by Ralph Barzz in a club event back in the mid 80's when the lake was UP !! He had a 5 fish limit that went 32 lbs, all flippin the brush. The wind was blowing hard out of the south and he anchored off the bush, then let out his anchor rope till he was within range of the bush and stood on the back of the boat to work his bait. Flipped a jig and pig, black on black. His biggest that day was about 7lbs. Pretty good for Northern Utah. My preference is a black w/chartruse gator tail worm. Both work great.

My very first trip to Utah Lake was back in '83 at the American Fork boat harbor. Not only was Utah Lake flooded it stunk from the harbors sewage leaking into the lake due to the flood.
My very first(and only one that I caught) fish was off of the cement dock. A small Bluegill. I kept it.[cool]
But my two other friends caught a few mudcats.
And one of them caught a way nice sized Perch. It was well over one foot in length.
Oh yeah none of them caught any Smallmouth, sheesh I'm getting old!
Actually it was when my other friend and I were fishing for White Bass at the American Fork Creek entrance into the lake. Now my memory is working.[:/]
My friend caught a 15 inch Smallmouth Bass. It was not a Largemouth it had a smaller mouth and was dark. A ton of fishermen decided to crowd us out to get those bass! Rude!
After catching Smallmouths in Arizona that was it, my friend really did catch a Smallmouth from outta Utah Lake, after all these years I thought it was a Largemouth.
