3-4 Jan 2011 - Lake Guntersville Fishing Report – Spent the past couple days on the water with clients who just wanted to get on the water for a couple days. We fished from Goose Pond to Seibold. Water temp’s are 42-45 degrees. Water clarity ranges from extremely muddy to lightly stained, the clearest water we found was in South Sauty. We found the fish in 3-6 FOW around last falls grass lines using rattle traps and jerk baits. It’s a typical winter pattern as they are bunched up in small groups and as always in the winter it’s critical to slow down your presentation. The fish we caught were good healthy fish, but nothing giant. If you are going to venture out over the next week or so, please use caution when running. The lake water level is high. We saw several logs, grass mats with garbage floating not only on the main channel but the back channels as well. Watch for fishing to start improving over the next three weeks if the weather stabilizes. I have days available for late January and I’m already booking days for the spring, make your reservations now for some great action on Guntersville. “Let’s go fish’ in”
