No, but had a fun 10 minute fight with one through the ice a couple of years ago. It is my goal to land one.

Newton hasn't been kind to me either. But if you can land a muskee, it is worth it. I am going to hit Hyrum first thing in the morning. I will post how it goes.

I would certainly like to know how Hyrum is doing ice wise. I had a good time there last year for perch.

From the beach to the east end, there is at least 4 inches of ice. I walked out on it yesterday. I will be sure to post more tomorrow. Where abouts were you fishing last year for the perch? We pretty much stayed toward the east end and killed the trout all season.

I was in the southwest corner most of the time. Action was a little slower than Pineview, but the size was better. Didn't get into any trout there, but wasn't really trying.

Was it in between the dam and that cove on the southwest end?

That's where I fished a few times last winter, and boy it was slow. You'd think it would be better over in that area with the steep drop off and all. Even that cove wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Yeah thats where I was. I did some moving around to in front of the dam and what not, but did ok in most spots. Most success was on the sound side of that bend.

I was at Newton yesterday and perch were biting. I am hoping to catch a tiger also. Had a nice one come in on my bait and then it turned away. Also saw a real nice bass and caught a couple of small ones. I am skipping work and going out again tomorrow. I will let you know how I do.

What kind of rig/bait were you using on the perch? I did well with a pink jig tipped with crawler back in fall. Lots of dinky bites, but hooked up a few decent ones.
Newton was actually pretty kind to me on a couple trips. I think I've marked out some good perch spots, and even got into a school of Crappie.
Hoping to find them again. Landed one musky that ate my perch, and beyond the bitty basslings - have had little luck with the bass. The big one'd see me coming and run away. Need to target them more, and better.
Still waiting to get a Musky on a lure - when I'm ready for it. Wanna see that follow get slammed!!! Booyah!
Derek - if you wanna go Sat morn - look me up. I can show you were I got into some. Of course under ice they probably all moved somewhere's else!!!

Nice pic. I was fishing with a Ratfinkee Glow Brite tipped with a worm. Did the same thing today and caught a lot more perch and some tiny bass. Saw a couple of nice bass but they didn't hit. No sign of any tiger muskie today. I Tried tipping a Kastmaster with a perch tail but had no luck. Any suggestions on catching a muskie through the ice would be appreciated. Thanks and good luck.
