I need to replace a guide on my old casting rod and need (lots of!) help. First, how do I know what size I need, i.e., 6, 7, 8, etc.? Also, the guides on my rod are held on with thread and epoxy, not glued directly to the rod. IS there a specific kind of guide that I need to purchase? What size thread should I use to attach it? Finally, can someone outline the steps involved Tn replacing the guide, or direct me to a basic, simple video that will instruct me? thanks!

[#005000]This the best idea that I can give you. Go to this website as follows> wwwjannsnetcraft.com or go to Cabela's. They both have kits, but Janns has the best. I had to replace 1 guide on my rod, and I bought it from Janns.[/#005000]

[cool][#0000ff]I am in the process of putting together a complete book on tacklecraft. It includes a chapter on rod building. Attached is a pdf file of excerpts from that chapter that should help you.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In a nutshell, you will be looking for a double foot guide...sized either 8, 10 or 12...depending upon where the guide is. The biggest (12) at the bottom.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]You will use size A nylon thread and then finish the wrap with epoxy...as described in the writeup.[/#0000ff]
