Jmax, Chick, forth place and big bass., Bass, 4/4/09, Antman
#1
Well, other then the later start due to the fog it was a day that went much like I thought it would. I knew that the fish I had found last week with xrfoxracer were still there but they had slowed down. After yesterday with 12 pounds in two hours and last week having about 17 pounds, I thought we could get a good limit. Smile The water coming up and the mud was taking it's toll on my bite. emoBang We started with a bang as Antman put our first keeper in the boat off a jig and I boated one just short in the first five minutes but it was all downhill from there. I think I boated five off a shakey head before I finally boated my first keeper on it. Very slow bite but they were there. Working rock and gravel banks with steep drops. It was slow but consistent. I think we had four in the well when I said one more and time to cull. Pitched out by a tree that had fallen into the water and felt a light tap. emoSmile Set the hook and it just stayed there. I kept it tight and said,"That is a fish if it would just come out from that tree." and bother let me tell you it DID! Hauled ars out and headed for deep water. I told Antman to get the net, it was a good one. He thought it was a big drum but it was not rolling so I felt it was a bass. It came up and I caught sight of the side. I said that is a good one. Anthony got in front of me the third time it came up and he saw it well. All he could say was WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back off the drag! That is one big fish!. emoEek Two more times it came up and two more times it took line and went down. Finally I could tell it was tiring and said,"Are you ready?" He said yes and I pulled it up again and this time Anthony got the net under her. emoEek I knew she was big but not that big! She looked ten in the net. We weighed her and she was just shy of eight. emoWorthy That was our fifth keeper and we started culling. She hit a small shakey head with a four inch worm. The same one I have been telling everyone to use for a month. emoGeezer We culled once and put two more keepers in the boat that would not help us. In all we boated eight keepers and seven slicks. Good enough for 4th with 17.64 pounds and big bass. emoApplause Our fish came off of jigs, blades, but mostly shakey heads with small worms. emoBigSmile

Good job on the tournament guys.
