Causey today
#1
Ice conditions---4 to 5 inches solid, but there are areas of deep slush on top.

Fish----two 12 inch splake, and a fairly large tiger I almost got out of the hole.

I have never done real well here and it sure seems there's a lack of fish on my vexilar. What a great peaceful place to go..only if the fishing was a bit faster. Anyone chime in on there favorite bait/lure here and best depth to fish??

Thanks,

Justin

That is typical Causey. I have arrived before light, fished till 3 or 4 in the afternoon and only when i got ready to leave the kokes finally came through. You can sit for hours and never see a fish and in the next breath be inundated with them.[Wink]

I was up there today as well. We got there around 9 or so and fished till two. Between three of us we caught 8 fish, 7 rainbows and a small tiger. We caught all our fish on glow ratso's, pink mister twisters with a pink jig head tipped with a wax worm. We fished off a point in about 15-18 feet of water. It was pretty slow but still manged to pull some nice fish through the ice...

One other thing, when the kokes come through, they are anywhere from the bottom to the top but usually about 1/3 the way off the bottom or right at half way up. It usually doesn't matter what you have on because they will hit anything if you are in the school. Try and keep a rod or 2 in the fish while you remove hooks from caught fish. We have kept schools of kokes directly under us for close to 1 1/2 hours doing this. hope this helps a little.
Oh yeah, i usually fish in 40' to 50' of water for the kokes.
