#1
I need a new tube for this fall. Which one should I buy. Why is the Super Fat Cat more expensive? Thank you in advance for your responses.

[cool][#0000ff]Welcome to the dark side.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We have that question...or some variation of it...at least a 1000 times during the year. I'm guessing that you have not looked in the archives or back through even the posts of the last two months.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In a nutshell, the FishCat4 is a smaller and less costly craft...with vinyl air bladders and Boston valves. It will do a fine job of floating someone up to 200 pounds, with gear, but has smaller pockets, etc.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The Fat Cat is a foam seat version of the Super Fat Cat...which has inflatable seats. The Fat Cats have urethane bladders (better) and better valves. They also have more pocket space and are better for big tubers (over 250#).[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you can find a good deal online, and you are going to be tubing more than once or twice a year, go for the Fat Cat...regular or Super. A much better ride for most folks.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You might also read the chatter about the H3 Freestyle, by North Fork Outdoors. A bit pricey but the best quality available.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]What do you have right now and what kind of fishing do you do most? Or, what new types of fishing might you be thinking of getting into?[/#0000ff]

I'm only 185 lbs. but I love my Fat Cat. Friends have the Fish Cat but as TubeDude pointed out there are several reasons to pay the extra for the Fat Cat.

I have an older Fat Cat that will soon be 9 years old and it's still going strong. I just bought a new one recently and am really impressed with the improvements they have made over the years. When I tube with my friends in their Fish Cats I am glad that I have my Fat Cat. The Fish Cats are good tubes and if they didn't make Fat Cats I would be in a Fish Cat too. I just prefer the size, quality and efficiency of the Fat Cat.

I do a lot of fishing on the boulder and thousand lakes. I have been using a trouts unlimited tube and I think it is a piece of crap. I generally take a pontoon but it is hard to strap to the new atv. I think the super cat is the one I want to buy or the H3 you recommended. After I posted my question I saw all the posts in the archives. I am surprised how much this has been discussed. Thank you for your response. By the way, I checked out the Freestyle H3 and it looks right a great ride. It is currently on sale for $325 at:

Thank you for your help.

[cool][#0000ff]I fished from a TU Kennebec for a few months, before getting my first Super Fat Cat. I have also had experience with some of their other models. I agree. In terms of quality and ride, the TU craft are not good craft.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you get the SFC or the H3, you will be a much happier with tubing and will probably do it more often. Sometimes you don't know what you are missing when you have poor quality gear. It is only when you upgrade that you realize the added enjoyment of owning and using good stuff. I have never known of any tubers who have gone back to something else after buying the best.[/#0000ff]
