Kolob Reservoir - Sun May 11, 2003 ( Report )

I got to Kolob about 10 am, it was beautiful and warm, slight wind



hedgesd was already there, said it was great action so far, he had caught a couple dozen that morning since 7 am on his fly pole. . he was switching between buggers and nymphs . .



I caught 4-5 after switching to a bugger/nymph combo . . hedgesd caught another 10 on his fly rod!

[left]It was a great day to be up in the moutains. It was in the 30's when I arrived and the little puddles on the way in were frozen over. I caught most of my fish early on and missed many more but nothing over 20". A small hatch started late in the day but nothing big enough to switch patterns. I tried a number of patterns and caught fish on everything I thru so don't be dissapointed by not finding that killer pattern. [/left] [left]I wanted to knock the dust of the tube but the fish are spawning close to shore. Maybe next time.[/left]

oh one more thing: X-man told me the 'secret' to fishing . . . now i know the one true secret of fishing! Yeah! Ill never tell!

I went Saturday and it was great! You could see the fish swimming along the edge about two feet away.

It was fun fishing with some fellow bft guys. They are a kick on the water. Though the fishing seemed a bit slow because of the spawn the rainbwos are out of this world for color. I can not share my secret to fishing because it is just tooo tricky. haha southern understands. It was nice meeting you guys and hope to hit the water sometime again. I did end up with around 15 or 20 fish on kolob but did seem slow since we fished ALL day. Long drive home for us northern folk gettting in around 1:30 in the morning ugh. THanks again for the fun trip guys and panguitch was beautiful great recommendation.

It definitely was fun. I would of stuck around longer and launched my tube but I was done after a fish wrapped it self around a rock and busted of my setup.

Hey Southernman great report on Kolob. Those guys look like they got some great looking fish. The pictures and video were out of this world.
