Sinking the deck ??
#1
I just received a call telling me the ice at pineview is sinking.. He said with 24" of snow and another 10" of slush underneath that that the ice is sinking.. Well i think with all that weight on the top and if the edges are open it might be possible... What do you think ???

let me tell you this much i attempted to and i underline attempted to get on the ice last night,, first there is no more pull out areas, the snow before last nights storm was atleast 3 feet deep evry where and on the ice it was 2 to 2.5 with a foot of water ontop of 2' of ice, i drilled a hole and water gushed up out of the hole like i had hit a well,
Sad to say but we may be done on a few lakes if this heavy snow keeps up............sorry for bad news...........

[cool][#0000ff]A similar thing happened last year, shortly after the ice capped the lake, but it was partially the result of lowering water level. The ice was glassy slick, with no snow, and when there was a bit of water on the top and sloping edges you were just about trapped on the ice unless you had really good ice cleats. Some guys actually had to wade through waist deep water to get back up off the ice. Not cool...COLD.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Thanks for the reports, guys. Let's hope everybody plays it safe and let's hope conditions mellow out a bit so we can get in a few more shots before ice off.[/#0000ff]
