New Float Tube From Outcast
#1
I know this type of thing may interest some of you more than others. I just saw this new float tube on Outcast's Web site. I've been in the market for one for awhile.

What do you guys think? I like the fact that it has a new adjustable stripping apron, that it has 600 PVC fabric denier everywhere, and that it boasts a 325-lb. capacity. I don't know what the "full-length inflatable floor" would be, but it sounds intriguing.

What do you think, especially you, Pat? $450 sure sounds pricey though!

Here it is:

Prowler

The Prowler is a heavy-duty float tube for fully grown fishermen. The Prowler's full-length inflatable floor is a drier ride for you and your equipment. The new stripping apron has a height adjustment for a customized fit. The Prowler boasts three Summit 2 valves making inflation easy and simple. To keep angler from getting parched during a long hard day of fishing we have included a 54 ounce hydration bladder.

[cool][#0000ff]I haven't seen one, nor read any reviews. My first impression is that it has a lot of "foo foo" stuff that would be of no interest to me, especially at that price.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]At 16 pounds, it is heavier than the Fat Cats. But, it looks like they have addressed the low back seat problem. The seats appear to be inflatables, which adds to the cost...about $100 in the Fat Cats. I will never have another inflatable seat. Just found FIVE more pinhole leaks in my Super Fat Cat seat. They do not hold up very long and are costly to replace.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The "hydration bladder" is an "add-on" that adds on to the price but is probably not worth the money they charge extra. When on the water, wearing waders, hydration is something I try to keep at a minimum. What goes in must come out.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Outcast makes good tubes, but I'm not sure how big the market will be for this one.[/#0000ff]

Hey PF I'll chime in here, as I too am looking or another float. Keep in mind I have been looking for over a year now. I bought a toon and like it just fine for certain fishing trips/conditions. I took my time to set it up for me so it fits my size, reach, ect. It is fun to fish from but froced me to add my 1st net to a float.

So I'm in the market again for another ride. I have tested the Day tripper, 2 Trout unlimited floats U and PT style, a Fat Cat, Gunnisen (sp) something country tube and a couple of generic no-names.

At this point the fat Cat is number 1 followed Colsley by the Fish Cat. Now I need to check out the ODC new ride and then I will decide.

I like the bladder Idea, but don't know how much that added to the price. Camelbacks' have gotten cheap. I didn't notice any D rings on the pic. They are a must for floaters. You dont know ya need them til you dont have them (my toon is woofully lacking in this department). A bit pricy the Prowler is. I think this is one I would want a test drive in before I bought it. Or buy, try it, don't like it, return it. That was a couple of my earlier test rides.

Hi TD and thanks for the link. I checked out the review and borrowed a fish cat from sportsmens this afternoon. Gave Dave an excuse to hit the water. For us bigger boys we need the biger toys. I think the Fat Cat is ging on my shopping list.
