About two weeks ago we tried it down in the inlet in the creeks for flounder and spot tails. I bet we hit every deep hole and bend in every side creek in the inlet..........Not a single bite. I droped a couple crab pots down, and they are moving pretty good now. If you're going for crabs, find the deeper holes with a really muddy bottom. That's were the Blue Crabs are holding now. The water temp is still only about 55 or 56 degrees, so it'll probably be a couple more weeks yet. Once the water hits about 65 degrees, the King Mackeral will be with in reach for all of you with a smaller boat. They should be inshore to about 2 or 3 miles out.
Fresh water is slow. We went just the other day to the little pee dee river there at galavants ferry. The river is still high, but not as high as it was. Bream fishing is nonexistant and the Flatheads aren't on the bite. I think the mixing weather has really got them screwed up. I figure about the time you start seeing the gar floating around on top of the water will be when it's time to start hitting it hard.
