Enjoy Willard while you can!!!
#1
I went out with a friend and fished Willard for an evening bite on 06/05/2025. When i arrived at the South  marina waiting for my buddy to arrive with his boat to lainch, I seen a guy I know who fishes Willard multiple times a week, Knows the lake well and is in contact with authorities and the ins and outs of Willard.

He informed me that he had a banner day on the lake and that we need to enjoy it cause its going to go away fast. I questioned him further. He pointed to a large pile of yellow pipe in the Southwest corner of the parking area. He stated that this is the pipe for the new pipe line going into the lake in the South West corner. Im assuming this pipe will go under the dike to enable future water flows OUT of the lake.

In order to complete this project which will begin when the water levels, that have already started to drain, down two feet in the past few weeks is down for this pipeline to extend out into the lake. The lake he told me will be drawn down until we will no longer be able to launch at either marina and could be a mud hole in the entire South marina. Im guessing that the North marina will be no different.

Further, he said he was told that by the End of July, First part of August, we will be high and dry! This project will run all the way through the winter thus also affecting the fall fishing and ice fishing.

Has any one else heard anything on this? I have no reason not to believe this individual, I know many of us on BFT that fish Willard know who he is.

So, if there is any truth to this, get your fill of Willard for a bit cause this is coming.

Alan sent this to me yesterday and I was planning on posting it but I'm glad you did, because you have the info first hand, at least from the guy that told you. I have also heard it from another source but I also heard it a few years back from one of the guys that will be working on this project but it's been a little while now, so I was hoping it wasn't going to happen. This is all about the the water that comes out of the lake that goes to the channel just outside the SW corner. Since most of us walk out of the North marina to ice fish, it really won't effect that too much, other than the distance we will need to walk but it will for sure effect the Fall perch fishing. Sad What is really Sad is, why didn't they do it when the lake was so low a few years back or wait until the next low water cycle. Such a waste of our precious water source.

That pic that comes up with that link Bob posted is the exact spot where they plan on doing the work and its going into that channel just outside the dike. At least that was what I heard.

I remember years ago when the water level was so low we were launching off the point by the inlet of the North Marina where buoy's are! It was great fishing getting rid of all the ski boats. glad my boat is light and easy to launch should be a great season... LOL
