Frank and Bernatte Dicenzo from Rhode Island chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Frank is in the trucking business and knows his diesels very well. We had a good conversation on the mechanics of diesel engines and the different types.

We put out one #6 plainer with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon on an 80 ft. trace tipped with 40 lb floral carbon. Four surface baits we had four Bonito strips and a dredge. We started out trolling the reefs in depths of water ranging from 80 ft. out to 200 ft. of water, zigzagging in and out of the reefs. Frank and his wife took turns bringing in their catches and taking photos. Their total catch was two Mahi Mahi’s that were released, three Kingfish, three Barracudas and four Bonitos.

only took me 20 plus yrs and over 80 shots casting live mackeral to swordfish to finally get a bite and land it, 188 pounds on 50 lb tackle with 18 feet of 200 leader and a 11/0 j hook! are local sword fish come to the surface for one reason only and thats to deficate poop because were they feed is so deep they cant do it there. there really not in the mood to eat during this. I hear lots about east coast sword fish and only have not gone as i love the hunt here and your chances not very good! major bragging writes when u do land on. I was the only angler in 2014 to land a ca swordfish. now that its out of the wat im ready for the land of plenty, I realize its fishing not catching but im willing to spend the time there till I score. Looking for time of year and is it you I would be going with??? please let me know as im ready to put a trip toughther!!
thanks Bobby
