my dad and I got out today and fished below deer creek. we ended up being able to land 4 and a couple got off before I could net them. this is my first year fly fishing. what are your guys go to fly for winter? I've been getting skunked a lot lately and hopefully you guys could point me in the right direction

Nice Brown!!!! Try gray scuds, pale yellow eggs, WD40's in black and olive.

The Lopro can be tough. Don't get discouraged. In addition to what the Goddess told you, try size 16 and 18 sowbugs in grey and cream/beige as well. They usually yield a few fish for me, when other stuff is being refused. White or pale globugs have been working for me too, but that might be winding down a little.

My go-to for browns on the lower Provo is a 1/8oz gold Vibrax

I know, not much help. Sorry man. I fly fished one time, and I was pretty terrible at it.

Flygoddess nailed it. The lower Provo can be very productive during the winter months, but it does require some patience and knowledge. One person can fish a hole with a fly and get skunked and the next person can come in behind them with the right fly and catch a few. I've done it many times after someone has left a hole.

The flies Flygoddess mentioned should be in your arsenol at all times. Good luck and continue to ask questions.

I have caught some pretty big ones on size 20 zebra midges recently. Like they said, don't get discouraged. It can take a little bit to get the Provo down.
