It's a nice lake. You've got a number of other good lakes in the area as well.

You can access either by the Thousand Lake Mountain road, or via Solomon Basin. Neat country.

You can drive right to Meeks lake then you have to hike 3/4 of a mile to Floating Island. Make sure you hike in the right direction. Last time I went there we found a trail that went the wrong way and we hiked about 3 miles in the wrong direction. After hiking about 3 miles I ran into a guy carrying a float tube on his back that was also looking for floating island. Make sure you don't make that same mistake. Their is some nice sized splake in that lake. Also some of the lakes around that area have some huge brooks.
