I lost a pole to a fish today at rockport. If some one catches a yellow rod I would like to get it back. You can keep the fish that is attached.

40 or so yrs. ago I was fishing the old "berry" about a quarter mile out from Charlies Trout Creek camp and hooked a line. I told the neighbopr kid fishing with me that there was a fish on it & he laughed, thought I was nuts. I pulled it in & there was a bow about 18" long still alive & scrappy. Then I told him I'll bet there's a pole on the other end & he laughed again. I pulled in a rod & reel. When we were back at the dock, one of Charlies rental boats was tieing up just across the dock from us, we got to talking & I told them about the rod etc. An oldre fellow with them asked where I got it & when I told him, he asked if it had a green reel on it which it did. He proceeded to identify it exactly. He said he'd dozed off & just woke in time to see it go over the side. I gave it back to him but kept the fish & now kinda regret keeping the fish. Moral of the story? Don't give up hope.

Last ice season at Rockport, daughter and I were just wrapping up a nice day of ice fishing. It was getting dark so I had put a night bobby lighted bobber on the lines, since we couldn't see the springbobbers moving. Trout hits the line, bobber goes under, fish breaks off. I think sharp ice at the edge of the hole cut the line. We could see the fish, or the glowing lit bobber anyway, swimming around under the ice. It was hilarious, looked like an orange ghost or something in the water. Anyway the fish eventually came tearing back through where we had our holes punched, and we both dove an arm down the hole as the glowing orange bobber flew by, and I was able to grab the line. Got both the fish and my night bobby back. [ ![]() [signature]

Meeeee toooooooo!!! [cool] Had a similar thing happen Saturday at Starvation. Last fish of the day, daughter had just finished reeling in her poles and we were almost packed up to go. Was just going to start reeling in. Had a fish hit my first pole, I set the hook, fish is fighting...line breaks. Oh crud, fish is off. Then my other pole starts bouncing--I thought "no way--that one's on the bottom for perch, no WAY did that fish dive down 20 more feet to hit that." What had happened was the fish when it started fighting swam in a circle, and tangled the line from my first pole in my second pole's line, that was all the way at the bottom. So when it broke the line I was able to reel in the fish with my second line. Weeeird! [signature]

I was flyfishing below Pali
![]() And some of you may remember how I was miraculously able to retrieve my bottle of orange juice that fell down the hole and sunk. It can happen! Remember the movie "Grumpy Old Men"? Max loses the Green Hornet down the hole and John catches it a few days later. "The Green Hornet strikes again!!!" [signature]

On my 1st official day of fishing I was at Yuba windsurfing and watching some people fish from shore in the morning. Well the rod flew into the water. The next day my twin and I were paddling around the buoys and there was the rod floating. It went under several times before we finally decided to grab it. We pulled on that fish for over a half an hour by trying to paddle and reel but it would not budge. We opted for cutting the line and when we returned the fishing pole we got our ears bitten off by the angler! Guess he could care less for his rod and reel even though it was a really pricey one. It was most likely a carp since they love the buoys so really I can't see why he was SO ANGRY. Now days I wouldn't bite the line off. I was 7 years old and I could have had the biggest fish of my life. Coulda, woulda, shoulda, didn't, can't!
