i was wandering through Wally's world and saw a collapsible toon for 230 or so. fits into a backpack and i thought it would work grate for those of us who live in cheep little one room crap hole apartments and only have a car.
my question is would it be safe to take down a river such as the Henery's fork from the dam to last chance?

Tubing is pretty thin on this one, still water only. Read reviews on Cabellas. Can be backpacked, but very difficult to set up take down. Nylon cover and low quality bladder with no PVC skid bottom for protection. I do like that it rides high in water.

the only thing I know about this line of boats is that TD's son has a cimmaron and last I asked him he liked it ...

you may also want to check the venture outdoors line of pontoon boats.. they have what they call a dura bladder and is suppose to be all but unsinkable...

Pon, it does have the PVC bottom.
But Type 1 white water...isn't that basically standing water? I am not positive, but, I would think you would be looking at Type 2 & up on the snake you are talking about.
The boat is a little short for my liking at 8' specially for a river.
Even if the boat could take it, be SURE you know how to yourself.
A pontoon isn't going to be the same as a Drift Boat or a canoe/kayak.
It will want to turn more.
I had to row a Drift Boat to get an Idaho guide clearance. While it was a short run on the snake, it had it's moments.
Plus I will add, although I have never used this boat, have come across many on other forums, that think while the boat itself is okay, the seat is terrible.
Just hear say, so take it or leave it.

looking at their comparison chart the arrow has the cloth adjustable seat (easier to fold for backpacking??) .. the rest have either padded or unpadded stadium seats..

That could make a difference Mac, Thanks. Does kind of look like the Scadden seat and "I" loved those.

Bug, I have two North Fork Outdoors Freestyle H 3's for a killer prices.
They are 6' long and totally inflateable, so they can fit in a back pack if needed.

the only problem i see with doing the h3 for my purposes is to get to the point at hagerman and below bliss is paddaling accross the river with my feet is rough i did it once and had a friend come get me on the otehr side so i did not have to paddle back across. the advantage to the pontoon boats is they have less drag in the river and its so much easier to row across so I'm trying to get a good all around vehicle so i only have to buy one. Also I'm a starving newlyish wed in collage so I have to keep costs down. Anything over about $300 won't work for a few years till i can save up some more money or have some more room in the budget
