Tippy Dam fishing report
#1
It was supposed to be cloudy with rain today , perfect steelhead conditions .
Instead it was bright and sunny on the river with the shadow coming from the stair side of the coffer . I arrived at 11:30 and descended the sled run where the stairs were supposed to be , to my amazement I had the whole coffer section all to myself .
I used several presentations from one end of the coffer to the other with the same results , Brown trout on every second or third cast . The best set-up 4" off the bottom with a 3' leader line . The water is cold so strikes were short and fast . I did not see or hear of another fisherman getting a cromer while I was there and not one sign of fish being brought up the stairs , no blood scales or spawn on the packed snow at all .
There hadn't been much time passing before other fishermen started to fill the line , with each fish I caught the closer they came to my area . I'd move up , they would move up , I'd head down , they would follow .
While up top just past the jutting tree I managed to get my spring baptism in , I'm glad that annual deed is done and hopefully over with .
Next weekend maybe , the weekend after definatly there will be fish .

just over from me a bit in heartland a guy went thought his own privet pond in the back of his house.

fortunately for him mom and pop saw him go though and thay ran out and held his head above water till the fire department got there to make the resque.

he was treated for hiperthermia at the hospitol and was released... he is lucky and will be ok

yep, it is that time of year again...

last week it was a truck near southrige

On my way into Cadillac there was an IDIOT who had his SUV parked on the ice 50 feet from shore . Must have been too hazardous to walk that far with all the water on the ice .

I had a dealie with an igiot my self sunday,

I was on the ice all day listening to the soft cracks of the ice, and every one knows what soft cracks means, and if they dont, it means release of preasure.

any way my igiot came out a hundred fifty yards from shore near me with his black cherokee.

he was making me nervous even tho he was parked a good 50 yards away from me.

I sat there all day and well in to the night, only little bitty perch to show for my effort.. then I decided I was going to keep me a bunch of those little shrimps and wouldnt ya konw, they quit biting [laugh]
