What's a quality charger for a single group 24 battery?

I use a ProXOne 6amp charger available from Kragen / O'Reilly / CSK auto parts. It's about 30 bucks and recharges my group 24 deep cycle in about 4-6 hours after a full day of fishing from my pram.

I used the Minn Kota charger for mine. Works very well.

Depends on what kind of battery and how often you will use. If you only go out on holidays 5x a year, just about anything will work, since the battery will expire due to shelf life before any wrong charger could do damage.

If you are talking lead type: there are car batteries, deep cycle flooded, sealed lead acid SLA, and absorbed glass mat AGM which come in about group 24 size. Each has its own type of charger for maximum battery life if you will be using at least 2x per week. Hope this helps. Napa Marine/RC Duel Purpose deep cycle battery (big One. Got to be deep cycle cause that can be drained and take recharging over and over.

I agree with Pon, if you only use it once in awhile any charger that is made for Marine batteries. If you use it like I do,(at least 3 times a week) then not all chargers are created equal. I went through like three of them. Never seemed to charge the batteries all the way and took 8 to 10 hours. When camping and on generator, that is not good. I went Minn Kota MK220, because it can do TWO batteries in about 4 hours. [signature]

I'm definitely getting an AGM battery, probably an Optima Blue Top. Been doing some research and most likely will get a Minn Kota charger. Was looking at the MK 110P a portable charger. I also saw the MK 110 an on-board charger. I wonder if the build quality of the MK 110 is better than the MK 110P or if you are just paying more because it's an on-board model. Looking at the specs the MK 110 has automatic temperature compensation which delivers fast charging recovery, even in extreme temperatures, while protecting your batteries from overcharging. The MK 110P does not. I will be charging the battery at home.

Do you guys run the trolling motor and sonar unit off the same battery or use a smaller battery for the sonar? I don't want sonar interference from the tm. [signature]

I run them both off the big battery. I also go the on board charger as I carry it in like a brief case, cause like I said, it goes everywhere the generator or full hook up.

When one of my batteries was like 5 years old, it wasn't holding the charge as long. Then I took the small gel cell battery for sonar. If the motor died, I could still fish. I have never experienced any electric interference from the motor to the sonar. [signature]

I use the MK110P on a costco deep cycle and it works great.

I will be running both FF and TM off the one battery. When I am on waters where the motor can't go I have a smaller 12 volt battery that I will use. [signature]

When you mounted your trolling motor on the Cardiac Canyon's motor mount did you use something to reinforce it like a piece or wood or just clamp the tm on the mount alone? [signature]

		Just on the motor mount.
