EAST CANYON SLUSH ?
#1
I volunteered to take a group of scouts ice fishing this Saturday. I have chosen East Canyon, but I need to find a recent post on the "slush monster". I need to make sure the boys are outfitted with the right kind of gear. What does it look like up there?
Any and all help would be appreciated.

I was up last Saturday, the edges were a little slushy. Also about 6" to 8" of new snow. Someone had a big ice auger, snow covered the hole and my size 11 soels went in up to the knee; be careful. Saw a lot of fish but the bite was slow.

Just got home from EC.

Conditions were great. We fished south of Taylors Hollow (I think thats it--bit new to me). Edges were a bit slushy but we had no problems getting on and off the ice. There was about 3-4 inches of snow on top of an inch or 2 of slush where we were was all. Main ice was +- 14" thick.

Spent from 8:30-12:30 and caught 10 nice size bows. Most 14"-16" with a couple smaller and one that ran 18+.

Beautiful day. I'd give the ice conditions an 8/10 and weather and fun 10++++/10.

What happened to all the gready lil tigers we caught thru the ice last year? I've only landed one and it was almost 17". I was suprised at the size but more about the lack of tiger reports coming out of EC. Has anyone gotten into them lately. I was even catching them trolling during the summer.

Ratso with a mealie. Right off the bottom. We were in about 20-25ft of water.
