while i am a big fan of Gama... hooks, i recently bought a few of their jigs and was greatly disappointed. Had a hook straightened out by a little 15" skipjack....oh brother [pirate].

anyone else experienced this?? Gama mean gamakatsu or something like that...can't remember the right spelling and it's too cold and windy here to walk out to the car and dig into the tackle box...LOL

[cool][green]Hey there guppyslayer - you spelt it correctly in your post but not in the subject matter. But that shouldn't make the hook fail. As the leading hook manufacturer in the world, I would e-mail them about your complain. They might just send you a few free samples. Might have just had the worst one in barrel.[/green]

Dryrod is right, I've used these hooks and have been pleased with them. Give them an e-mail.

[green][cool]I am always sending e-mails to manufacturers whenever[/green]
[green]their product has failed me. I recently received a $12 in coupons from the Everready people for a flashlight that was ruined by leaking batteries. Also a $10 coupon from Rubbermaid and $4 in coupons from Campbells Soup. And these were all sent this year. Be polite about your complaint as sugar gets more flies than salt.[/green]

Gamakatsu is my hook of preference, and i've never had a problem. I'm like dryrod, I think you might have scraped the bottom of the barrel or something. That sounds like a defect, and they will send you a replacement. They stand by their products, and for good reason, they are a kick-A@# hook. Also check and see what strength the hooks are, IAW 2X, 4X, etc.... It might just be a 15" skippy, but they pull pretty hard. What kind of jig was it? Like a Sambiki jigging rig? Regular Spoon-type jigs? Elaborate

 it was a simple 1/16 oz lead-head jig with a red-plated hook.

i fish with jigs a LOT. I catch a lot of skipjack when i'm in the mood for baitfishing and i was very surprised when it happened.

I have also been pourin my own jigs using the red-plated Gamakatzu hooks and have been happy with the results. I just thought maybe they 'went cheap' on store bought jig-heads and was wantin to hear from some other peeps...looks like i may have simply gotten a bad lot...i will send them a email and see what they have to say.

thanks for the replys
