How many of you keep a record of your fishing trips in a notebook or database? If you do what kind of information do you record? (water temperature, date, number and size of fish caught, weather conditions or whatever else)

I started recording all of my fishing trips a little over a year ago in a database that I created. It's kind of a pain taking time to record everything. It is definitely worth it though. I wish I had started sooner because it is nice to look up exact dates, time of day, water temperatures and many other things little things that I have forgotten.

I keep a similar record of my trips. I include the following:
 Location

 Time of day

 Moon phase

 Target species

Working color paterns for lures or type of bait used.

 Air temp

 Water temp

Depths fished at (when float tubing)

 Weather Condition.

That's right. The more info that you can put in the log, the more use the log book is in the future under the same conditions.[signature]

Last year we kept a log on where we went and caught. This year I got a bigger planner book to keep the info in. Should be helpful in the future.[signature]

I simply use GPS and fishfinder. If I hit a really good spot I mark it on my GPS. Works for me in ocean and lakes. If I traveled to more locations maybe I would keep a log but I tend to hit the same locations so with info above I usually do well.[signature]

No, it takes too much time. And, usually I can get close enough to where I was last in a hotspot to find fish & get going again.
I don't fish many big bodies of water. If I did, that would be a different story.

The notebook is usually best for people that are going to be hitting many different bodies of water or plan on getting old some day. It is a good way to remember then what you know now.
Just think, some day when we go to that big fishing hole in the sky, our kids and grandkids will be able to auction that notebook off for a small fortune.[cool]

I am thinking about starting one this year. I also want to take pictures of all of my fish too. I got a lot of pics last year, but Santa brought me a digital camera for Christmas, so I think I will get more pics this year.
I also keep a waterproof camera in my vest for those fly fishing, wading times!

That's a good idea. I had my camera take a dunk a couple of times last year. I was able to revive it and everything is fine now. My buddy the Ziplock bag.[cool][signature]
