Went to Twin Lakes ( preston) the other day. Was mainly fishing for panfish. They were biting pretty good for a while then just shut off.... Only thing I could catch was small bass. So I switched over and started fishing for bass.... Caught this guy following my jerkbait all the way into the bank before he snagged it. Anyone know a good taxidermist in the Pocatello Area?
There are web sites to calculator the weight, here is one:
https://www.bassresource.com/.../fishcalculator.html
According to it, your bass might have weighted as much as 8 lb but a lot of factors come into play for a fish to weigh that much. Here is another website that has a different weight formula:
https://www.garden-island.com/...rmula-calculator.htm
And it calculates it at 5.78 lbs. My guess is that your scale was pretty close.
The bassresourrce calculator seems off. It puts my son's smb from last week over 2 lbs heavy.
The garden-island calculator nailed it perfect for his fish.

Most of those calculators aren't perfect, it is always a good idea to check a couple of them, what was your son's length and girth of his SMB?

That bassresource one groups bass, carp and catfish into the same estimate. I think that is why it's not is accurate as the other one.
21.25 x 16.75, 5.40# on my scale

I just put in those numbers and it says it weighs 7.415364583333333, that does seems a little high.

yeah I'd stick with the garden-island calculator. It seems pretty close. It was right on the money with Avery's.
