Disappointing day. We knew exactly where we wanted to start; agreed on it 2 days prior to the event. It is an offshore spot that we like. Fairly long run from the ramp so it was sort of a risk because we passed up a lot of good water to get there. We got there, fished it for close to an hour with different baits and a small channel cat was all it had to offer. Early morning, no current, probably bad decision to fish deep water. Anyway, moved to a rocky bank with some wood on it and got our first keeper on a jig with crawfish trlr - good. Kept working our way down that bank and had a few bites but could not connect - not good.

By now the wind was up and moving. We went to some docks that had a lot of wind on them and got our 2nd keeper on a worm. Thought it would be good to stay on them but the wind was just too much to fish them effectively so we moved to some docks that were more protected. Caught some fish but it was a 14 3/4" fest. Never seen anything like it, couldn't get one 15" or better.

Decided to move to some main lake points and of course everyone of them had pressure already place; so we fished the inside areas of these points and proceeded to catch more shorts. Dad was getting some action on a swim jig / bream imitation. I was throwing a plastic worm.

Then we moved to another stretch of docks that have produced and shortly after dad connected with our biggest fish of the day on his swim jig. That fish completed our limit. By now it was 12 or so. We scrambled around trying to make something happen and could not get a big bite no matter what we did.

Still had a great time participating.

Congrats to all those that finished in the money on a pretty tough day. And thanks to the committee for the hard work of putting it together.

Here is a pic of Dad with the 3 we brought to the scales.
