Hello!
I have fished for farm raised trout for a LONG time and I might be able to tell you what you need. In my experience, I use 6 lb test on a light action rod, I use a small splitshot weight on the line, a swivel after that, a 12 to 18" 6 lb leader line, and then a SMALL treble hook. I then put garlic scented powerbait on the end enough to cover the WHOLE hook. If the trout feel the hook, they will spit it out. Just cast it to a spot with a sandy bottom and let it sink to the bottom and let it sit. your line will move and your rod will twitch when you get a bite. Hook it then.
Now my idea might not work if your areas regulations say certain things about hooks or weights, But where I am from, (Idaho,) I catch many farm raised rainbow trout this way.
