Kaepernick
#3
[#0000FF]I have family and friends in various law enforcement positions around the country...and here in Utah. I have always respected that commitment to serve, often without appreciation and all too often with outright hostility and aggression.

You and I grew up in times when "cops" were liked and respected. Many young boys aspired to becoming one. Now it is considered a badge of honor (in some groups) to have killed a cop.

The news media does more harm than good in helping law enforcement officers. They blow up the occasional mistakes or deadly use of force to subdue perpetrators...even when they are confronted by guns themselves. But it is seldom that a kindly gesture or putting themselves at risk to help others gets any mention at all. And that happens countless times around the country on a daily basis.

Here in Utah we have several recent examples of great cops and great family men who were killed by scum who should never have been on the street. And often they are killed while being completely unaware of the potential danger...while making a routine check to see if they can render aid.

Sure, there are some bad examples of officers who overstepped their bounds and their training in the apprehension of law-breakers. But I just gotta scream when the mother of a cop-shot punk cries for "justice"...after her druggie, thug, weapon toting, street-running kid gets busted during the commission of a robbery...or worse. And that's when the media shows up...along with the wacko televangelists and other rabble-rousers.

CRASH! Just got off my soapbox.
